To escape the hectic pace of living and working in downtown Amsterdam, where 95% of my work is done on my phone or laptop. This turned into a little trip—quite sudden and spontaneous—to relax, unwind, and regain inspiration and new insights. Late breakfasts, dinners, and sometimes a little something in between. Like delicious ice cream from Lebora Ice Cream Farm or an apple pastry on the beach. And as a vegetarian, it’s often a challenge to find restaurants. But I ate incredibly well and there was so much to choose from on the island. I’ve tagged the restaurants below!

But first, just a quick note:

What I love so much about Texel: the animals, the peace and quiet, and the fact that everyone says hello to you!
Good to know:

Shops and restaurants are usually open from Thursday through Saturday. So here’s a good tip: check which restaurants are open when and make a reservation in advance, so you’ll have a nice place to eat every night and won’t have to scramble at the last minute to find somewhere to go. Dogs are actually welcome just about everywhere, which makes it even more fun for me as an animal communicator! I’ve even been able to leave my flyers at various places

Photo 6: I’ve become a birder and, together with my new birding friends, saw a very special bird: the great crested grebe, which is found only in Siberia.
Photo 7: Super-friendly staff and head chef: they even managed to find a spot for me. A restaurant that had been on my list for a while, at @Bosq and a fantastic menu, especially the ravioli with Texel sheep cheese.
