Tuning In to Dubai’s Energy<\/h2>
As you may have read in my other blog post, I\u2019ve previously tapped into the Picasso energy in Barcelona.<\/p>
That has meant so much to me. Not in any concrete way, but in terms of my way of thinking, possibilities, opportunities, and thinking outside the box. It was actually kind of magical!  <\/p>
That feeling\u2014it was so special. And I had plans to go to Dubai. Everyone talks about Dubai, about how beautiful it is.  <\/p>
Of course, it’s all fake, because it’s all pretty new. It’s all about money, shopping, and putting on a show, or so they say. But I wanted to experience it for myself, just to see what it’s like to be there.  <\/p>
Of course, you can see that a lot of really rich people live there. And I wanted to go there, to work there, enjoying the sun. It\u2019s something I do quite often\u2014traveling to other destinations, usually Spain.  <\/p>
And just work out there on the patio in the sun. Because I can take my work with me wherever I go. When I asked my boyfriend if he wanted to come along, he said, \u201cWhat would I even do there?\u201d And that\u2019s actually something I\u2019ve heard several people say.   <\/p>
But I said no, I want to experience it at least once. I want to be there at least once. And I even told him, who knows, something might come of it\u2014maybe a deal.  <\/p>
Maybe something good will come of it professionally. I don’t know, but I just want to go to Dubai. I want to experience it.  <\/p>
So I booked a ten-day stay. I went there and was happily working on the terrace in the shade when my laptop shut down because the battery was dead. Then I thought, okay, I\u2019m not going to plug it back in. I\u2019ll take it as a sign. And sure enough, I closed it up.    <\/p>
Across from me, I spotted a spot on a bench, right in the sunshine. So I sat down there, enjoying the sun and doing a little people-watching. The most beautiful people walked by. They were wearing gorgeous clothes.   <\/p>
Chic, really, really chic. And I had a view of a marina. Well, of course, there were beautiful yachts there, too.  <\/p>
The skyscrapers\u2014or at least, they weren’t skyscrapers, but tall apartment buildings all around me. Beautiful apartment complexes, unique buildings, and architecture. I couldn’t take my eyes off them.  <\/p>
And I was sitting there comfortably on that bench, enjoying myself. At one point, out of the corner of my eye, I saw a man walking by rather quickly. And he was holding food and drink in his hands.  <\/p>
I saw that he was looking around\u2014I think he was also looking for a spot on a bench where he could sit for a moment. A little while later, he came back and asked me, \u201cMay I sit next to you?\u201d Because I was sitting alone on the bench, and there was indeed plenty of room. And I know from Dubai that men there don\u2019t usually approach women.   <\/p>
They\u2019re extremely polite there\u2014that\u2019s how you could describe it. They only address men; they shake hands with men. They also speak to men. Women are kind of left out of the conversation, but I was alone, so there was no one to speak to. And you can think whatever you want about it, but in this case, I find it very polite and also quite safe. Anyway, I was sitting there on that bench, and that man was sitting there with his food and drink, and he picked up his phone and started making a call.     <\/p>
He spoke English, and I looked at him; I think he was from India. This man actually began to present a dilemma to the person on the other end of the phone. And I was secretly eavesdropping a little bit myself.  <\/p>
But all in all, I became more and more interested in what this man had to say. And it wasn’t so much that I was very nosy or very curious, but I was actually just genuinely interested. I found out that this man was rolling in money.  <\/p>
He had a completely different world; he lived in a completely different world than the one I live in. Completely different. Completely different people around him, completely different budgets, completely different stories and experiences.  <\/p>
And I really enjoyed that. But this guy\u2014he was clearly really struggling with something. I could tell just by the way he spoke, and it was about his mother.  <\/p>
He actually thought his mother was just a little unstable\u2014that\u2019s exactly what he said. He didn\u2019t think his mother was quite right in the head. And he told that other person, \u201cMan, my mom gave me one of the nicest Bentleys. She has a house right in the heart of London. And she has a problem with shopping. That woman shops all day long. But that\u2019s not all\u2014I walk into the house and see shoe boxes everywhere. Under the coffee table, under the dining table\u2014all these shoe boxes piled up. It\u2019s bizarre; that woman can\u2019t keep her hands off her money.\u201d        <\/p>
That woman doesn’t know how to handle money. She just keeps buying and buying and buying. I bought her a house in London, on Baker Street, that’s 4,000 square meters, and every time I go there, she’s torn something down in that house again.  <\/p>
“I’ll have to have some more things made there. She has so many rooms, and all of them are piled high with clothes and shoe boxes. And she just keeps buying and buying.” He continued his story: \u201cWe were traveling in India, where we were being driven around in a Bentley. And at one point, she said to the driver, \u2018Stop here.\u2019 I looked around\u2014we were in a poor neighborhood. My mother was wearing at least 200,000 euros\u2019 worth of jewelry, and the people who live there can just buy a big house for 200,000 euros. And she had all that draped around her body. She wanted to stop because somewhere down that street she\u2019d spotted a little shop she wanted to visit.\u201d<\/p>
He says, \u201cMom, these people are so poor. You\u2019re walking out of a fancy Bentley with 200,000 euros worth of jewelry on you. If you get out, when people see this, they\u2019ll form a big crowd around you. I won\u2019t be able to protect you then. The police can\u2019t protect you. You\u2019ll get robbed\u2014and maybe something even worse. You\u2019re not thinking straight. You\u2019re out of your mind. You\u2019re not just going to get out here to go to a little shop.\u201d        <\/p>
That man was really worried. That much was clear. And he said, \u201cMom, I want you to come to Dubai. It\u2019s safe here. You can do whatever you want here. It\u2019s safe here. I\u2019m confident you\u2019ll be safe here, too. I can\u2019t keep an eye on you. I can\u2019t help you. I can\u2019t protect you. I just want you to come here, but she doesn\u2019t want to.\u201d He says, \u201cWhat am I supposed to do with my mom?\u201d   <\/p>
At one point, he said something to me\u2014and I didn\u2019t even realize it. I was listening a little, of course, but I was also just really enjoying the surroundings, so it was kind of a combination of a few things. And then, at one point, I heard someone next to me say, \u201cMiss.\u201d And the second time: \u201cMiss.\u201d And then I thought, \u201cOh, he\u2019s talking to me,\u201d so I turned around.   <\/p>
I said, \u201cYes.\u201d He said, \u201cSorry about that, but is my phone call bothering you?\u201d And of course I said no. That was true, and secretly, deep down, yes, I was actually enjoying the conversation I could hear.   <\/p>
And it\u2019s not that I enjoyed his worries, but more that I enjoyed being in a different world for a moment, just for myself. I mean, I have my own worries and little issues, but so does he\u2014and on his level when it comes to money and wealth. And of course, I was on a completely different level than he is when it comes to money and wealth. And I thought it was so fascinating to hear what his life is like. Everything he goes through. And what opportunities exist there.     <\/p>
But it also shows that he is worried. And I actually\u2014I don\u2019t know how to put it\u2014but I actually kind of enjoyed it. And I don\u2019t mean that in a negative way. It\u2019s not jealousy or that I don\u2019t want him to have it. But it\u2019s more that I was in a different world for a moment. And I really loved that\u2014being in that world of such abundance when it comes to wealth. Because with my friends and family, I don\u2019t talk on this level. Or I don\u2019t hear these kinds of stories.       <\/p>
And they say you become like the people you hang out with. And maybe every now and then you really do need to be more selective about who you spend time with\u2014precisely to take yourself to the next level.  <\/p>
So I was sitting there enjoying myself, and that man kept talking for a while. And at one point I thought, \u201cWell, I\u2019m going to head out now.\u201d Because I wanted to keep going for a bit. I\u2019m going to look around here and see what else there is. So I stood up and said to that man, \u201cHave a great rest of your day.\u201d Actually, I wanted to say, \u201cGood luck with your mom.\u201d But I thought, no, I won\u2019t do that. Because then he\u2019d know I\u2019d really been listening. But I thought it was a very special experience.        <\/p>
So the reason I went to Dubai was to tap into that energy. But also to maybe land a good business deal. And it wasn’t until I got home that I realized I’d actually gotten it in a different way.  <\/p>
But more on that later.<\/p>

Tuning Into Dubai Energy<\/strong><\/h2>

That feeling was so special. And I had this plan to go to Dubai. Everyone talks about Dubai and how beautiful it is.  <\/p>
Of course, it\u2019s all kind of fake, since everything is so new. It\u2019s all about money, shopping, and showing off\u2014at least, that\u2019s what people say. But I wanted to experience it for myself, to see what it\u2019s like to actually be there.  <\/p>
You see so many truly wealthy people living there. And I wanted to go there, to work, and enjoy the sun. Something I often do\u2014usually in Spain.  <\/p>
I’m just working on a sunny terrace, because I can take my work anywhere. When I asked my boyfriend if he wanted to come, he said, \u201cWhat would I even do there?\u201d And to be honest, I’ve heard that from a few other people, too.  <\/p>
But I said no, I want to experience it for myself. I want to be there at least once. And I even told him\u2014who knows, maybe something will come of it, like a business deal.  <\/p>
Maybe something good will come of it professionally. I wasn’t sure, but I just wanted to go to Dubai. I wanted to experience it.  <\/p>

Across from me, I saw a spot on a bench in the sun. So I sat down there, enjoying the sunshine and watching people. The most beautiful people walked by. They were impeccably dressed.   <\/p>
So chic. Truly elegant. And I had a view of a marina filled with stunning yachts.  <\/p>
Skyscrapers\u2014or well, maybe not actual skyscrapers, but tall buildings all around me. Gorgeous apartment complexes, unique architecture. I couldn\u2019t stop looking around.  <\/p>
So I sat there on that bench, just taking it all in. At one point, out of the corner of my eye, I saw a man moving rather quickly, carrying food and drinks. <\/p>
It looked like he was looking for a spot on a bench to sit down. A little while later, he came back and asked, \u201cMay I sit next to you?\u201d I was alone on the bench, and there was plenty of room. I know that in Dubai, men don\u2019t usually address women directly.   <\/p>
They are extremely polite\u2014you could say overly so. Only men speak to men and shake hands with men. They don\u2019t really address women directly.  <\/p>
Women tend to be left out of those interactions, but since I was alone, there was no man to address. You can think whatever you want about that, but in this case, I found it very respectful, and it actually made me feel quite safe. So anyway, he sat down with his food and drink, took out his phone, and started a call.  <\/p>
He spoke English, and I figured he was from India. The man began explaining a dilemma to the person on the other end of the line. I kind of eavesdropped, surreptitiously.  <\/p>
I became more and more interested in what he was saying. Not because I was nosy, but because I was genuinely intrigued. I found out that this man was incredibly wealthy.  <\/p>
A world completely different from mine. Totally different people around him, completely different budgets, stories, and experiences. <\/p>
And I really enjoyed that. But the man was clearly struggling with something. He talked about his mother.  <\/p>
He literally said he thought she was a little unstable. \u201cNot quite all there,\u201d were his words. He told the other person, \u201cMy mom got one of the finest Bentleys from me. She has a house in the heart of London. And she has a serious shopping problem. She shops all day long.\u201d  <\/p>
\u201cBut that\u2019s not the only thing,\u201d he continued. \u201cI walk into the house and see shoeboxes everywhere\u2014under the coffee table, under the dining table, stacked all over the place. It\u2019s crazy. That woman has a hole in her hand. She doesn\u2019t know how to manage money. She just keeps buying and buying. I bought her a house on Baker Street\u20144,000 square meters. And every time I visit, something else is broken.\u201d <\/p>
\u201cI have to fix something again. She has so many rooms, and they\u2019re all filled with clothes and shoeboxes. And she just keeps buying.\u201d Then he said, \u201cWe were traveling in India once, riding around in a Bentley. At one point, she told the driver, \u2018Stop here.\u2019 I looked around\u2014this was a poor neighborhood. My mother was wearing at least 200,000 euros worth of jewelry. People there could buy a big house for that amount. And she\u2019s just wearing it all casually.\u201d <\/p>
\u201cShe saw a little shop and wanted to get out. I said, \u2018Mom, these people are so poor. You\u2019re stepping out of a flashy Bentley, draped in 200K worth of jewelry. If you get out, people are going to gather around you. I won\u2019t be able to protect you. Neither can the police. You\u2019ll be robbed\u2014maybe worse. You\u2019re not thinking clearly. You\u2019re not in your right mind. You can\u2019t just get out to go shopping here.\u2019\u201d<\/p>
The man was seriously worried. That much was clear. He said, \u201cMom, I want you to come to Dubai. It\u2019s safe here. You can do whatever you want here. It\u2019s safe. I\u2019m sure you\u2019ll be okay here. I can\u2019t keep an eye on you. I can\u2019t help you. I can\u2019t protect you. I just want you to come here. At some point he turned to me\u2014and I didn\u2019t even notice at first, since I was sort of listening but also just taking in my surroundings. Suddenly I heard, \u201cMiss.\u201d Then again, \u201cMiss.\u201d And I realized he was talking to me, so I turned.   <\/p>
I said, \u201cYes?\u201d He said, \u201cSorry, am I bothering you with my phone call?\u201d And of course I said no. And that was true. Secretly, I was kind of enjoying eavesdropping on the conversation.    <\/p>
Not because I enjoyed seeing him stressed out, but because it allowed me to step into a different world for a moment. I mean, I have my own worries and problems, but so does he\u2014just on a completely different level, financially speaking, in terms of wealth. I\u2019m on a whole different level compared to him.  <\/p>
And I just loved hearing about what his life is like. What he goes through. What kinds of opportunities he encounters.  <\/p>
But also, that he has concerns. I don\u2019t know how to put it, but I actually quite enjoyed it. And I don\u2019t mean that in a negative way. It\u2019s not jealousy, and I don\u2019t begrudge him anything. It was just being in a different world for a moment. And that felt so good.     <\/p>
To step into a world of such abundance\u2014even if only in my mind. Because with friends and family, I don\u2019t have conversations on that level. I don\u2019t hear stories like that.  <\/p>
And they say you become like the people you surround yourself with. Maybe sometimes you need to reevaluate who you spend time with\u2014to raise yourself to a higher level. <\/p>
So I was just having a good time, and the man kept talking on the phone. Eventually, I thought, okay, time to move on. I want to keep exploring.  <\/p>
I stood up and said to the man, \u201cHave a lovely day.\u201d I actually wanted to say, \u201cGood luck with your mom,\u201d but I didn\u2019t\u2014because then he\u2019d know I was listening. Still, it was such a special experience.  <\/p>
The reason I went to Dubai was to tap into that energy. And maybe, just maybe, strike a good business deal. And once I got home, I realized I did<\/em> get something out of it\u2014just in a different way.  <\/p>
